Food Safety (F1)

Nature of training opportunity

The assessment of the food safety management system employed by a food business which operates a public catering operation.     

Training outcome

An opportunity to assess and evaluate the employer’s food safety management system (or equivalent).

An opportunity to assess the system’s role in protecting the health and interests of the customers.

Learning period required

One day on two occasions each year (ideally at 6 monthly intervals).

Specific requirements

Students should read the following documents prior to the visit:

  1. EC Regulation 852/2004
  2. EC Regulation 178/2002
  3. The Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2006
  4. FSA Food Law Code of Practice and Practice Guidance

Students will be expected to provide clean protective clothing which is appropriate for visiting a food business.
