The ELP requires that students experience a variety of Intervention Areas and develop a number of Core Skills. This training day will consist of 2 interactive exercises, each taking half a day.
Intervention Area S7 :Work Place Accidents
Core Skills :
- Analysing and Interpreting Information:
- Identifying Solutions to Problems;
- Identifying the Rights and Responsibilities of Individuals;
- Working with Others;
- Working within the Legal Process
- Appraisal of Policies and Strategies; and
- Developing Good Communication Skills.

Students will have the opportunity to undertake a simulated accident investigation and an investigation of an allegation of occupational injury, interviewing the parties, evaluating documentation, identifying evidence gaps and ultimately making a recommendation as to the most appropriate course of action to be taken in respect of both matters.
Who should attend?
- Environmental Health students ( Undergraduate or Masters level) currently on placement with local authorities
- Environmental Health Masters students or Graduates currently employed in local authorities and completing their ELP
Numbers are limited to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate in a meaningful way. Priority at first instance will be given to students training with Welsh local authorities. You are advised to book early to ensure that you have a place at the event.
